so many people to thank for helping me and coming to visit me during week 1 (+ a couple days) post-op. for driving me around, coming over to entertain me, cleaning up, cooking/microwaving/bringing food, movies, filling my cryocuff with ice, moving stuff around, bringing and playing N64 games, staying over and letting me cry and try to figure everything out, stuff like that.

weirdly, i think that's all correct. maybe my brain's not going bad after all. in addition to just wanting to hang out and see me, a lot of these people put themselves to work immediately upon arrival cleaning or getting me stuff (especially eileen, mak, shannon, mom, pat, and kate). others have been stopping by to check up on me and make sure i'm not lonely, which i greatly appreciate. also, i think mom and stu have been the only ones assigned to kitty litter duty so far.

also, thanks to my friends who have sent/brought me stuff -
seattle (let's see... miranda, chase, deb, sebby, alex, liz (and adam?)): a lot of awesome flowers and godiva truffles on thursday right after surgery. super sweet to get those the day of.
becky: purple daisies and ferrero rocher chocolates.
srin, bryan, and blaise: 4 nintendo64 games (they got delivered the night of surgery, but didn't get played til later), 'running with scissors' (just bryan).
shannon and stu: flowers and chocolate cake on friday.
jenn phillips: great flowers, which she called me about first before i got them on saturday. it was really sweet.
catherine: the little wombat. so cute.
mike namkung: a "gold" medal for the world games victory, though it probably wasn't mailed intentionally as a post-surgery cheer-up item.
tina and steven: wedding thank you card with pictures enclosed, same unintentional cheering up upon arrival.
mel/the upa: team usa postcards and pictures, ditto with the unintentionality.
eileen and chris: smallville marathon, cody, food from the fridge, and a bunch of energy to put towards cleaning.
mak: bad santa, food, water, juice, snacks, herbs, ice, the crossword from hell, lots of stuff that's out of reach, a 5 leaf clover.
lisa: hang out time in front of the tube, movies, gauze, cool alaska pictures, my ozone jerseys.
cara: center stage, elf.
joe magyer: the notarizing stamp for my disabled parking permit application.
kat, crawford, and skyler: flying biscuit.
jim and nini: lots of movies, star magazine with jessica simpson's butt on it.
pat: hydrangeas, chocolate, biscotti, magic.
michael: chocolate, my first beer since surgery.
kate: gosh, where to start... filled prescriptions, food, drink, ice, movies, tissues, new bolt and wingnut for my crutches which required too many trips to the lowe's, glucosamine/condroitin sulfate, patience to put up with the times i'm not in a good mood, love.
mom: food, food, more food, food in separate little dinner trays, soup, snacks, the floor cleaning thingy, wet naps, other genius ideas to help me navigate the house easier on my own like the pink lunch bag, shower chair thingy, two-step stool, magical healing powers.

it's heart-warming to know so many people love me.

i hope i didn't leave anybody out. sorry if i did... a ton of people have been emailing me, too, and i've tried to be good about writing back.

riley's also taking good care of me, and i've gained a little insight on his daily activities.

pat shrop says mothers have a special magic. i believe her.
